For today's bride, there are a wide variety of flowers available for wedding bouquets; for Spring wedding bouquets, flower bouquet ideas include Tulip, Daisy and Peony.

Some flowers, particularly fragrant flowers such as Rose, have always been popular in wedding bouquets and, due to the number of hybrid Roses now available, it is possible to have a bridal bouquet of Roses all year round; however, for a Spring wedding in Europe or North America, consider some alternatives such as Tulip, Daisy and Peony. Other flowers which may be used for Spring weddings include Lily-of-the-Valley and Hyacinth.

The Popularity of Tulips for Spring Weddings

Tulips are commonly associated with Holland but they originated from Persia; the Tulip's popularity spread to Europe in the 17th century, in particular to Holland, hence its strong association with the Dutch today. Tulips belong to the Liliaceae plant family; there are many cultivars and sub species of Tulip available. The Tulip is a perennial plant, requiring long, cool Springs and early Summers to thrive; however, Tulips can be grown as Spring annuals in warmer climates.

Tulips are an ideal choice for simple wedding bouquet styles, particularly as Tulips are said to mean perfect love; red Tulips mean true love, purple Tulips mean royalty and yellow tulips mean cheerful thoughts. Tulips are simple flowers available in a wide variety of colors, with two to six leaves and large petals.

Peony Flowers for Spring Wedding Bouquets

The Peony belongs to the Paeoniaceae plant family; it is native to western North America, southern Europe and Asia. The Peony flower is a herbaceous plant or shrub with large, fragrant flowers flowering in late Spring or early Summer, making the Peony a good choice for Spring wedding bouquets. Peonies are available in a variety of colors including white, pink and yellow.

The Choice of Gerber Daisies for Bridal Bouquets

The Gerber Daisy, or Gerbera, is a colorful addition to a Spring bridal bouquet and can be mixed with Tulips; the Gerber Daisy is a genus of the Asteraceae (or Sunflower) plant family. There are many species of Gerber Daisy and it is found in Asia, Africa and South America; today it is one of the most popular ornamental cultivars throughout the world. The Gerber Daisy is a perennial or annual plant, depending on the species and cultivar.

The Gerber Daisy has large, dramatic flowers in colors of red, yellow, orange and pink; it has a long stalk, so can be used for wedding floral arrangements as well as in bridal bouquets. The Gerber Daisy is an excellent flower choice for brides who wish to make a statement as it adds dramatic color to any wedding bouquet; daisy themed weddings are now becoming a popular choice for Spring brides.
